The Managing Director/Chief Executive of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku, has appealed to road users around the Murtala Muhammed International Airport to exercise patience as ongoing road construction efforts ramp up within the airport vicinity.
This call for understanding came during her inspection of the roadworkâs on Saturday, October 12th.
The construction is focused on a 2.4-kilometre stretch between the Toll Gate Plaza and Gate 13, commonly referred to as ‘Legend Road.’
Mrs. Kuku, while expressing satisfaction with the quality and progress of the project, highlighted the importance of public cooperation to ensure its timely completion.
âThis road should have been done years ago, but I am glad weâve started it now,â âwe need full cooperation from all road users and the airport community to complete it on schedule and to the desired standards.â Kuku said. â
She extended her gratitude to Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for the state’s collaboration with FAAN on the project.
She described the partnership as a model for future joint initiatives aimed at improving passenger experiences at Nigerian airports.
“This collaboration with the Lagos State Government is a prime example of the productive partnerships we at FAAN are committed to fostering,”she added. “I also want to thank the Honourable Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Mr. Festus Keyamo, SAN, for his leadership and meticulous oversight, which have been crucial in keeping this project on track.”
The project includes complete road reconstruction, drainage systems, sidewalks, and streetlights, all of which are expected to be completed within nine months.
