AerCap, the world’s largest aircraft leasing company, has commended Air Peace Limited for its financial integrity and discipline following the successful delivery of a dry-leased Boeing 737-700 Next Generation (NG) aircraft — a milestone that marks Nigeria’s first dry lease transaction in more than a decade.
Speaking during the aircraft’s induction ceremony at the Murtala Muhammed Airport Terminal 1 Hall, AerCap’s Vice President of Leasing, Gad Wavomba, described the development as “a historic moment for Nigeria and the region.”
He noted that the achievement was made possible through collaborative efforts between the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), the Irish Civil Aviation Authority, and the Irish Embassy in Nigeria, emphasizing Air Peace’s pivotal role in rebuilding global confidence in the country’s aviation sector.
“We thank Air Peace for their trust, transparency, and financial discipline throughout the process,” Wavomba said. “Their commitment demonstrates that Nigerian carriers can meet global leasing standards.”
The partnership between AerCap and Air Peace is expected to unlock new opportunities for fleet expansion and operational growth, signaling renewed global confidence in Nigeria’s aviation market.
With the addition of the Boeing 737-700 NG, Air Peace reinforces its position as West and Central Africa’s leading carrier, strengthening its commitment to safety, efficiency, and international best practices.
Industry observers see this collaboration as a major boost for Nigeria’s aviation finance landscape, offering a framework for other indigenous airlines to access competitive leasing opportunities and enhance national connectivity.
