FG Committed to Sustainable Aviation Fuel Supply — Keyamo

Date:

…Urges stakeholders to drive solutions for stronger industry growth

The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Mr. Festus Keyamo, SAN, has restated the Federal Government’s commitment to ensuring the availability, accessibility, and affordability of aviation fuel in Nigeria, describing it as a central factor in the efficiency and sustainability of the nation’s aviation industry.

Keyamo made this known in his goodwill message at the LAAC Gateway Colloquium held on Thursday at Providence Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos, with the theme “Aviation Fuel Business: The Scenario and the Metaphor.”

Commending the League of Airport and Aviation Correspondents (LAAC) for its consistency in providing platforms that stimulate meaningful industry discussions, the Minister noted that the colloquium’s theme was both “timely and thought-provoking,” as it addressed one of the most pressing challenges confronting the aviation ecosystem.

“Aviation fuel sits at the very heart of airline operations,” Keyamo said. “It does not only represent a key cost driver for airlines but also a strategic index of national logistics and economic vitality.”

He described the “scenario” as a reflection of the current realities fluctuating prices, supply vulnerabilities, and infrastructural challenges—while the “metaphor” calls stakeholders to reimagine a new energy paradigm that supports growth, innovation, and environmental responsibility within the sector.

According to him, the Ministry is focused on fostering policies and partnerships that promote a fair, transparent, and efficient fuel supply chain, balancing the interests of government, oil marketers, and airline operators.

“This conversation today is more than an analysis of challenges; it’s an opportunity to shape solutions,” the Minister emphasized. “I encourage all participants to speak freely, think boldly, and help chart a course that will make Nigerian aviation stronger and more sustainable.”

Keyamo further lauded LAAC’s role in driving informed dialogue and inspiring collaborative action across the aviation value chain.

He expressed optimism that the deliberations at the colloquium would generate new ideas, strengthen partnerships, and chart a forward-looking path toward a resilient and globally competitive aviation sector.

He concluded by wishing participants fruitful deliberations and a successful event.
