FAAN Reaffirms Commitment to Safer, Cleaner Aviation Fuel

Date:

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has reiterated its commitment to strengthening the nation’s aviation fuel supply chain through collaboration, regulatory support, and infrastructure development.

Speaking on behalf of the Authority at the LAAC Gateway Colloquium with the theme “Aviation Fuel Business in Nigeria: The Scenario and the Metaphor,” the Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Mr. Henry Agbebiri, commended the League of Airport and Aviation Correspondents (LAAC) for convening the event at a crucial time when the aviation fuel business has become both a national concern and an opportunity for innovation.

According to Agbebiri, as airports continue to expand across the country, FAAN recognizes the strategic role of oil marketers in maintaining a safe, reliable, and sustainable aviation fuel supply chain.

He stressed that the Authority is fully committed to supporting policies and partnerships that will strengthen this vital segment of the aviation ecosystem.

He outlined FAAN’s key areas of focus to include collaboration with regulators to streamline and accredit fuel marketers, ensuring that only competent and compliant operators are allowed to function at airports nationwide.

This, he said, would promote transparency and fairness in the sector.

Agbebiri further encouraged synergy among marketers, urging them to move “from competition for volume to cooperation for quality and sustainability.”

He added that the market should be guided by shared standards rather than fragmented rivalry.

He also revealed FAAN’s readiness to support the establishment of more Joint Users Hydrant Installation (JUHI) facilities beyond Lagos and Abuja to improve logistics, reduce costs, and enhance nationwide connectivity.

He further assured stakeholders that FAAN would keep providing enabling infrastructure from efficient airside access to modern storage facilities while also encouraging innovation through the exploration of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) in partnership with forward-thinking marketers.

“FAAN stands ready to be an enabler, facilitator, and partner in ensuring that Nigeria’s aviation fuel ecosystem becomes stronger, cleaner, and more resilient,” Agbebiri concluded.
