United Nigeria Airlines has resumed scheduled commercial services into Osubi Airport, Warri, marking a major boost for air connectivity in the Niger Delta region.
The airline’s inaugural flight, UN0548, from Abuja touched down on Monday to a warm reception featuring a traditional water salute and a red-carpet welcome for passengers.
In addition to the Abuja route, Lagos–Warri–Lagos flights also operated successfully on the same day, signaling the carrier’s full return to the city.
Osubi Airport Manager, Mr. Winston Ifeacho Egwuatu, hailed the development as a catalyst for economic growth in Warri and surrounding communities.
“The return of United Nigeria Airlines is more than the resumption of flights it reopens Warri to business opportunities, commerce, and social activities. We urge the airline to maintain consistency on this route to sustain and expand these benefits,” Egwuatu said.
Notable entrepreneur and socialite, Mr. Obinna Iyiegbu, popularly known as Obi Cubana, was among the passengers on the Warri–Abuja flight.
He commended the airline for restoring service to Osubi and urged it to increase flight frequencies.
“I had planned to travel through Benin or Asaba, but when I saw the advert that United Nigeria Airlines had resumed Osubi operations, I changed my plans. This is a proud moment as a customer, and I encourage the airline to add more flights to meet growing demand,” he said.
Several passengers echoed similar sentiments, praising the airline for easing travel challenges in the region and calling for sustained operations.
