Operations at Murtala Muhammed Airport Terminal 2 (MMA2) remained uninterrupted today despite a temporary water leakage incident caused by unusual weather conditions.
According to Bi-Courtney Aviation Services Limited, the operators of MMA2, the leakage occurred following heavy rainfall accompanied by abnormal wind patterns. These conditions directed water towards previously unaffected structural areas, momentarily breaching the terminal’s weatherproofing systems.
The terminal maintenance team responded swiftly, ensuring the immediate removal of water and restoring the affected section. Normal operations at MMA2 were maintained throughout the incident, and the terminal remains fully functional.
“We have already initiated a comprehensive facility assessment to reinforce our infrastructure against similar occurrences in the future,” said Ajoke Yinka-Olawuyi, Head of Corporate Communications at Bi-Courtney Aviation Services Limited.
Passengers and airport users are assured of continued safety and convenience at the terminal as proactive measures are being put in place to prevent future disruptions due to extreme weather events.
