The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has reiterated its commitment to ensuring high standards of compliance among Approved Training Organizations (ATOs) in line with the Nigeria Civil Aviation Regulations (Nig. CARs).
This was emphasised at a specialised workshop to enhance regulatory adherence and improve the country’s aviation training quality.
Delivering the keynote address at the event, the General Manager, Licensing, NCAA, Mr. Hyelni Bassi, who represented the Director General of the NCAA, Captain Chris Ona Najomo, highlighted the critical role ATOs play in maintaining the safety and efficiency of aviation operations.
“As we gather here today, I am reminded of the critical role that ATOs play in our aviation ecosystem. These organizations are the foundation upon which we build well-trained professionals who ensure the safety and efficiency of our aviation operations,” Bassi stated.
The workshop, attended by key industry stakeholders, training organizations, and regulatory officials, focused on best practices for managing compliance within training institutions.
He acknowledged the evolving challenges facing the aviation sector, particularly the rapid advancements in technology and the increasing complexity of aviation operations.
“Today, we face significant challenges in maintaining high standards of quality and compliance within our training organizations. Rapid advancements in technology, evolving regulatory frameworks, and the increasing complexity of aviation operations necessitate a proactive and collaborative approach,” he said.
The workshop provided a platform for participants to discuss regulatory requirements, evaluation methodologies, and mechanisms for continuous improvement. It also emphasised the importance of transparency, accountability, and collaborative engagement in maintaining compliance and ensuring quality training.
Participants were encouraged to actively engage in discussions, share insights, and learn from one another. Bassi stressed the NCAA’s dedication to fostering an environment where training organizations do not only meet but exceed the required regulatory standards.
“Your participation today is vital. Each of you brings unique perspectives and expertise that will enrich our discussions. I encourage you to engage openly, ask questions, and share your experiences,” he urged attendees.
The workshop concluded with a call to action for all stakeholders to remain committed to the highest standards of aviation safety and professionalism. Bassi expressed appreciation to the attendees for their dedication to aviation excellence and urged them to implement the lessons learned during the workshop.
“Together, let us work diligently to ensure that our Approved Training Organizations not only meet but exceed the expectations set forth by the Nigeria Civil Aviation Regulations,” he said.
With the continued collaboration between the NCAA and industry stakeholders, the Nigerian aviation sector is set to maintain and enhance its reputation for safety, efficiency, and compliance with international best practices.
