The Director General of the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB), Captain Alex Badeh Jr., along with his team members, recently paid a courtesy visit to the Governor of Oyo State, His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde.
The visit aimed to foster collaboration between the NSIB and the Oyo State Government, focusing on advancing transport safety and accident prevention strategies within the state.
During the meeting, Captain Badeh expressed his admiration for Governor Makinde’s visionary leadership and commitment to infrastructure development.
He highlighted the importance of embedding robust safety protocols across various sectors, particularly transportation, which is critical to the state’s progress.
Speaking on behalf of the NSIB, Badeh emphasized the bureau’s mission to enhance safety outcomes through meticulous investigation of incidents, actionable safety recommendations, and proactive stakeholder engagement. “We are here today to express our admiration for your visionary leadership and to explore how we can work together to promote a culture of transport safety in Oyo State. NSIB is committed to ensuring that safety remains at the forefront of every development initiative, and we believe that by working with state governments, we can create safer environments across Nigeria,” he remarked.
Governor Seyi Makinde warmly welcomed the NSIB delegation, commending their pivotal role in improving transport safety nationwide. He noted the critical importance of learning from past accidents to prevent future occurrences and expressed his administration’s readiness to leverage the bureau’s expertise. “Your work is critical in ensuring that we learn from past accidents and prevent future occurrences, and I am pleased to see your proactive approach in reaching out to stakeholders at all levels,” Governor Makinde stated.
The Governor reiterated his administration’s commitment to infrastructural development and improving safety standards across the state.
He emphasised the importance of collaboration between federal agencies like the NSIB and state governments to achieve sustainable progress in safety initiatives.
