Air Peace Addresses False Claims Surrounding December Boarding Incident

Date:

Air Peace has officially dismissed recent allegations circulating on social media regarding the boarding process of passengers on Flight P47123 from Abuja to Lagos on December 20, 2024.

The airline categorically labeled the claims as false, misleading, and intended to create confusion among passengers and stakeholders.

In a statement released by Dr. Ejike Ndiulo, Head of Corporate Communications at Air Peace, the airline highlighted that the disputed video was orchestrated by unidentified individuals aiming to disrupt the airline’s operations and undermine its reputation.

“The false video post was designed by some faceless individuals with the intent of misleading the flying public to cause confusion and distraction for management of Air Peace and its stakeholders, including the regulators,” Dr. Ndiulo explained.

On the day of the incident, Air Peace experienced flight delays attributed to adverse weather conditions, specifically harmattan-induced haze and fog.

These weather patterns are typical during this season and have a significant impact on visibility, thereby affecting flight operations across the nation.

To minimize disruptions for passengers, Air Peace deployed three additional aircraft to Abuja to accommodate and evacuate all affected passengers.

During the boarding process at the gate, the high volume of passengers overwhelmed both the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) and Air Peace’s boarding officers, leading to a rush towards the airside.

In response, duty managers and ramp officials had to establish barricades in front of the motorized steps to manage and differentiate passengers boarding the flights safely.

Dr. Ndiulo said that the airline’s commitment to passenger safety and operational integrity. “While we empathise with our loyal customers, we condemn in very strong terms the misinformation, insults, and deliberate falsehoods disseminated in the video post. Such representations are not reflective of our values or operations,” he stated.

Air Peace urges the public to disregard the misleading reports entirely and assures passengers that their safety and comfort remain the highest priorities. “We appreciate your understanding and patience during this period and sincerely regret any inconvenience these delays may have caused you. At Air Peace, safety is not just a priority but a fundamental precondition for all our activities. We remain committed to maintaining safe and timely operations,” added Ndiulo.
