Ebonyi State Pushes for International Airport Certification

The Governor of Ebonyi State, Mr. Francis Nwifuru, has called on the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) to provide technical support for the certification of the Ebonyi State International Airport.

The governor made the request during a courtesy visit to the Acting Director-General of Civil Aviation (Ag. DGCA), Capt. Chris Najomo, at NCAA’s headquarters in Abuja.

The visit underscored the state government’s commitment to advancing its transport infrastructure, particularly the development of a state-of-the-art airport designed to serve Ebonyi, Abia, Benue, and parts of Cross River States.

Governor Nwifuru outlined the state’s broader transport master plan during the meeting, emphasizing the strategic importance of the airport in fostering regional connectivity and economic growth.

He highlighted the project’s potential to boost trade, tourism, and investment opportunities in the region.

In response, Capt. Najomo expressed appreciation for the governor’s visit and vision, assuring him of NCAA’s readiness to provide the necessary technical support and regulatory oversight for the airport’s certification.

He reiterated the authority’s commitment to the Federal Government’s ease of doing business policy, which aims to create a conducive environment for infrastructure development.

“The NCAA is fully committed to supporting projects that align with national development goals. We will ensure that the Ebonyi State International Airport meets all regulatory requirements for certification,” Capt. Najomo said.

The Ebonyi State International Airport is expected to play a pivotal role in enhancing connectivity and driving socio-economic development in the region, with the support of the NCAA ensuring its compliance with global aviation standards.
