Presidency Lauds FAAN Leadership for Infrastructure Improvements at Lagos Airport

Date:

The Central Delivery Coordination Unit (CDCU) of the Presidency has commended the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) for its remarkable strides in enhancing aviation infrastructure.

This accolade came during an assessment tour of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) in Lagos led by Dr. Hendrix Odige, CDCU representative, and Mr. Haliu Mohammed from the Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development.

The FAAN Managing Director/Chief Executive, Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku, alongside her directors and management team, hosted the high-profile delegation.

According to Director of Public Affairs & Consumer Protection at FAAN, Mrs. Obiageli Orah, the visit aimed to evaluate progress on key deliverables aligned with the Federal Government’s eight Presidential Priorities under the Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration. These priorities, she explained, include a focus on “Enhancing Infrastructure and Transportation as Enablers of Growth,” encapsulated in Priority Five.

During the tour, Mrs. Kuku presented a detailed progress report highlighting FAAN’s achievements and future plans. The delegation inspected facilities at the Domestic Terminal 1 (DT1) and international terminals, gaining first-hand insights into the ongoing efforts to modernize and optimize airport infrastructure.

The CDCU, under the Office of the Special Adviser to the President on Policy and Coordination, plays a pivotal role in monitoring Presidential and Ministerial deliverables. Working through Delivery Task Teams (DTTs) within Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), the CDCU ensures that progress aligns with national goals and submits quarterly reports on milestones achieved.

Odige expressed the Presidency’s satisfaction with the leadership and vision of Mrs. Kuku, noting that the improvements observed at MMIA reflect FAAN’s commitment to driving excellence in aviation and infrastructure development.

“This progress is a testament to effective leadership and coordination within FAAN, which aligns seamlessly with the government’s agenda to enhance transportation infrastructure as a catalyst for economic growth,” he stated.

The assessment tour underscored the importance of synergy between federal agencies and leadership teams in achieving national priorities.
