Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Zulum, has commended the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) for its impressive strides in enhancing safety and regulatory compliance within the country’s aviation industry. The governor attributed this progress to the visionary leadership of the Acting Director General, Captain Chris Najomo.
Governor Zulum made these remarks during a courtesy visit to the NCAA’s headquarters in Abuja, where he praised Captain Najomo and his team for the remarkable achievements recorded in the sector since his assumption of office.
Zulum highlighted that the NCAA, under Najomo’s leadership, has ensured improved compliance with flight regulations and safety standards, which have significantly contributed to the growth and development of Nigeria’s aviation industry.
He further stated that the sector has continued to attract substantial investments, thanks to the confidence investors have in the NCAA’s regulatory framework. Zulum expressed optimism about the future, noting that with the federal government’s commitment to repositioning the aviation industry, coupled with Captain Najomo’s dedication, the sector is poised for significant growth in the coming years.
“No one should be surprised at the success being recorded in the sector. Every day, we witness developments in various aspects of the industry, and this can be attributed to the leadership of the civil aviation authority. When the right person is in the right position, success is inevitable. The DGCA is a perfect fit for the job, and I commend him and his team for their excellent work. I urge them to keep the flag flying,” Zulum said.
In response, Captain Chris Najomo expressed gratitude for the governor’s commendation and emphasized the NCAA’s unwavering commitment to maintaining and improving the safety standards of Nigeria’s aviation sector.
He reaffirmed that the authority’s goal is to ensure that Nigeria’s aviation industry competes favorably with the best in the world.
“Our mantra has always been ‘Ease of doing business,’ but I must add that the complete mantra is ‘Ease of doing business without compromising safety.’ Safety remains our top priority, and we will continue to work towards achieving the highest standards in the aviation sector,” Captain Najomo stated.
During the visit, Captain Najomo also sympathized with Governor Zulum over the recent flood disaster in Borno State and commended the governor for his efforts in handling the crisis and driving development in the state despite challenges.
Both leaders discussed potential areas of collaboration that would be mutually beneficial to Borno State and the NCAA, with a particular focus on fostering growth and ensuring safety in the aviation sector.
Governor Zulum’s visit underscores the importance of leadership and regulatory oversight in the success of Nigeria’s aviation sector, which continues to grow in confidence and global competitiveness under the stewardship of the NCAA.
