Demuren, Onyema Lead Talks on Nigerian Airlines’ Survival on London Route

Date:

A high-powered industry forum aimed at strengthening the survival and competitiveness of Nigerian airlines on the London route is set to hold in Lagos on Wednesday, November 26.

The event follows Air Peace’s successful entry into London Heathrow a milestone that has sparked renewed interest in how indigenous carriers can thrive on one of the world’s most competitive corridors.

According to the organisers, former Director-General of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Dr. Harold Demuren, will deliver the keynote address, while Air Peace Chairman, Dr. Allen Onyema, will preside over the session scheduled for the NCAA Annex Training Centre.

Chief Operating Officer of Saptco Communication Limited, Mr. Sam Adurogboye, said the dialogue, themed “International Politics: The Survival of Nigerian Carriers on the London Route,” aims to equip operators with insights required to navigate complex international aero-politics, improve profitability, and secure long-term sustainability.

“As competition tightens on the Nigeria–London market and geopolitical shifts redefine access, this forum will dissect aviation politics, regulatory challenges, bilateral service agreements, and commercial realities that determine how well Nigerian airlines can compete,” Adurogboye said.

He added that with Air Peace now flying the route, the conversation becomes even more critical, focusing on operational and economic hurdles faced by local carriers in a space long dominated by global giants.

Adurogboye, a former NCAA spokesperson, noted that discussions will also explore policy reforms, opportunities for government support, and collaborative strategies that can reposition Nigeria more strongly in the global aviation environment.

Dr. Demuren, celebrated globally for his regulatory expertise, is expected to offer perspectives on how negotiation, diplomacy, and sound policy frameworks affect route viability.

Saptco Communication Limited described the forum as part of its commitment to promoting informed discourse and supporting the growth of Nigeria’s aviation sector.
