Brawl on Flight: VeryDarkman, Mr. Jollof Removed as NCAA Begins Probe

Date:

United Nigeria Airlines (UNA) has confirmed that social media personalities Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkman, and Freedom Okpetoritse Atsepoyi, known as Mr. Jollof, were removed from Flight UN0523 following a physical altercation during boarding at Asaba International Airport.

The confrontation, captured on video and widely shared online, occurred just before the flight was scheduled to depart, causing concern among other passengers and crew.

Chibuike Uloka, UNA’s Public Relations Officer, said the airline crew responded swiftly to defuse the situation. “Our team acted immediately and in full compliance with international aviation safety standards. Both passengers were deboarded without delay to protect the safety and security of everyone on board. The flight then departed safely while the matter was handed over to airport authorities for investigation,” Uloka stated.

Michael Achimugu, a senior aviation oversight official, condemned the behaviour, stressing that unruly actions on flights will not be tolerated. “The actions of VeryDarkman and Mr. Jollof endangered not only themselves but also other passengers and crew, as well as the aircraft itself. Both individuals are influential figures expected to model responsible behaviour, and there is no justification for this conduct,” he said.

The National Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), which has been actively educating passengers on the dangers of unruly behaviour, is expected to follow up with regulatory action.

United Nigeria Airlines reiterated its zero-tolerance stance on passenger misconduct, highlighting that safety and security remain the airline’s highest priorities.
