Nigeria’s largest carrier and West Africa’s leading airline, Air Peace Limited, has been officially inducted into the Nigerian-British Chamber of Commerce (NBCC), marking a new chapter in its role as a bridge between both nations. The induction took place during the Chamber’s Quarterly Members’ Evening and Induction Ceremony on September 25, 2025, at its Lagos headquarters.
With the theme “Trade Without Borders: Aviation as a Catalyst for Bilateral Growth between Nigeria and the UK,” the event attracted top business leaders, investors, and policymakers. The highlight of the evening was the formal admission of Air Peace into the Chamber, an honor underscoring the airline’s rising profile as a driver of trade, tourism, and economic diplomacy.
Delivering a keynote address titled “Runways to Revenue: Leveraging Aviation to Deepen Nigerian Investment Opportunities,” Air Peace Chairman, Dr. Allen Onyema, stressed the strategic role of aviation in reducing trade barriers, lowering costs, boosting tourism, fostering people-to-people ties, and opening fresh opportunities for bilateral economic growth.
President and Chairman of Council of the NBCC, Prince Abimbola Olashore, praised Air Peace for “challenging the status quo in global aviation and redefining Nigeria’s trade links with the UK.” He described the airline’s entry into the Chamber as both “timely and significant in advancing mutual prosperity.”
Also speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Nnamdi Okonkwo, Chairman of the NBCC Membership Committee, hailed Onyema’s leadership and recalled his crucial support as Fidelity Bank CEO when Air Peace secured financing for its first aircraft. “Air Peace’s story is one of resilience, innovation, and deep faith in Nigeria. Their induction into the NBCC reinforces the Chamber’s mission to nurture enterprises that transform bilateral trade,” he said.
Founded just a decade ago, Air Peace has grown into the largest carrier in West and Central Africa, operating a fleet of over 40 aircraft across multiple domestic, regional, and international routes. Its landmark Lagos–London service has positioned Nigeria on the global aviation map, while the forthcoming Abuja–London direct service, set to launch in October 2025, further cements its trailblazing reputation.
With this induction, Air Peace is set to play an even greater role in strengthening Nigeria-UK trade relations, advancing connectivity, and shaping the future of bilateral commerce through aviation.
