Air Peace, Nigeria’s leading airline and West Africa’s largest carrier, is proud to announce the well-deserved promotion of Senior First Officer Chibuzo Mbanefo to the rank of Captain on its Boeing 777 fleet.
This milestone marks a significant achievement in Captain Mbanefo’s aviation career, showcasing his dedication, skill, and leadership. Speaking at the event, Captain Iwo-Brown encouraged him to remain disciplined, adhere strictly to aviation safety protocols, and maintain the high standards required for sustained success in the industry.
In an emotional speech, Captain Mbanefo reflected on his journey, from his early days as a flight dispatcher to his training as a cadet and later a First Officer on the Boeing 737. He expressed deep gratitude to the Chairman, his wife, his family, and the entire flight operations team for their unwavering support. While he had the opportunity to become a Captain on the Boeing 737, his passion for the Boeing 777 ultimately guided his career decision, making this promotion a dream come true.
Congratulating the newly promoted Captain, Dr. Onyema reaffirmed Air Peace’s commitment to empowering Nigerian pilots and fostering local talent.
“At Air Peace, we recognize and reward dedication and excellence. Captain Mbanefo has consistently demonstrated professionalism, and we are incredibly proud of his achievement. His promotion aligns with our mission to build local capacity and ensure our flight operations remain world-class.”
Encouraging Mbanefo to embrace his new role with humility and responsibility, Dr. Onyema reminded him, “It is only your character that determines your altitude in life.” He expressed full confidence in his ability to lead and uphold Air Peace’s core values of safety, excellence, and service.
The ceremony, held at Air Peace’s corporate headquarters, was attended by the airline’s top executives, Flight Operations Management team, Captain Mbanefo’s wife, family members, and well-wishers.
