…earns sixth consecutive IOSA safety certification

Air Peace, Nigeria’s largest airline and a major player in West and Central Africa, has been recognized by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) for meeting global safety standards, standing on par with world-renowned carriers such as British Airways, KLM, and Delta Airlines.

The recognition came during the presentation of Air Peace’s sixth consecutive International Air Transport Association Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) certification. Speaking at the event, IATA’s Area Manager for West and Central Africa, Dr. Samson Fatokun, highlighted the airline’s remarkable achievement in adhering to the same rigorous safety standards applied to leading international airlines.

Dr. Fatokun explained that the standards assessed for Air Peace are identical to those used globally, underscoring the airline’s exceptional commitment to operational excellence and safety. “The standards here are the same as those applied to British Airways, KLM, and Delta Airlines,” he said. “Air Peace is proof that Nigerian carriers can meet and even exceed global expectations when it comes to safety and operational excellence.”

He commended the airline for successfully passing the rigorous IOSA audit process, which evaluates adherence to globally recognized safety and management protocols. According to him, achieving such a milestone requires dedication and expertise, particularly for airlines operating in regions where expectations are even higher.

In its ten years of operations, Air Peace has established itself as a leader in African aviation, gaining recognition for its commitment to safety and professionalism. Dr. Fatokun described the airline’s presence on the IOSA registry as a testament to its unwavering dedication to safety and operational excellence.

The IATA representative noted that safety in aviation is not just about avoiding accidents but about maintaining robust processes and systems certified to global standards. He emphasized that achieving and maintaining IOSA certification is not easy, but it is essential in modern aviation. “Safety is not cheap, but with the right investment, it can be guaranteed. The rigorous audit process ensures that only airlines with strong safety cultures and management systems succeed,” he said.

Chairman/CEO Air Peace limited Dr. Allen Onyema ( L ) receiving the International Air Transport Association Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) Certification from the Area Manager, West and Central Africa, IATA, Dr. Samson Fatokun at the Air Peace Corporate Head Office, Lagos recently.
