Aviation Minister Distributes Fertilizer to Boost Agricultural Productivity in Delta State

Date:

In a strategic effort to support local agriculture and enhance productivity, Nigeria’s Honourable Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo SAN, has distributed 600 bags of 50kg fertilizer across Delta State’s three senatorial districts.

This initiative aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which seeks to uplift Nigerian livelihoods and bolster sustainable agricultural practices.

The distribution, aimed at registered farmer cooperatives across Delta North, Delta South, and Delta Central, ensures farmers receive essential resources to improve crop yield and strengthen food security.

According to the Special Adviser on Media and Communications to the Minister, Mr. Tunde Moshood, the fertilizer supply supports grassroots farmers, particularly those in Delta Central, where 30 farmer cooperatives benefited from the program.

Minister Keyamo highlighted agriculture as a cornerstone of Nigeria’s economy, stating that empowering farmers could drive economic progress, alleviate poverty, and create employment. “Our farmers are the backbone of this country, and it is imperative that they receive the support needed to enhance their productivity,” he said. He added that strengthening agriculture and improving the value chain will ensure food security for all Nigerians.

Beneficiaries of the initiative expressed gratitude, noting that the fertilizer support arrives at a critical moment in the planting season.

The assistance is expected to increase harvests, reduce dependency on expensive imports, and stabilize food prices within the region. By promoting the cultivation of high-demand crops, the government aims to reduce production costs for farmers and provide a steady supply of local produce.

The Honourable Minister reiterated his commitment to the agricultural sector alongside aviation, underscoring both sectors’ importance to the economy. “Agriculture and aviation might seem worlds apart, but they are both critical to our national economy. We’re working to ensure that every sector is strengthened for the benefit of all Nigerians,” he noted.

This fertilizer distribution is part of the broader Renewed Hope Agenda, which aims to diversify the economy through strategic partnerships and resource allocation.

The government plans to continue empowering communities by providing necessary inputs and resources to farmers nationwide, marking an ongoing commitment to economic growth and sustainability in Nigeria’s agricultural sector.
