Nigeria’s automotive industry will take centre stage on June 4, 2026, as MotoringWorld marks its 30th anniversary with a high-level gathering of policymakers, regulators, and industry leaders at the MUSON Centre.
The event is expected to serve as more than a celebration, offering a platform for critical conversations on policy direction, local production, and the future of mobility in Nigeria.
Established on June 12, 1996, as a syndicated radio magazine programme, MotoringWorld has evolved into a multi-platform publication, consistently advocating for reforms and development within the automotive sector. Its transition into print in 1998 further strengthened its role as a key industry voice.
Over the years, the publication has been actively involved in shaping discussions around regulatory frameworks, industry standards, and local content development—areas considered vital to Nigeria’s automotive growth.
Publisher and Chief Executive Officer, Femi Owoeye, said the organisation’s journey has been driven by a commitment to structured industry development.
“Motoring World started with a simple vision: to give voice and structure to Nigeria’s automotive industry. Beyond reporting, we have continued to advocate policies that support local production and a more organised automotive ecosystem,” he noted.
A major highlight of the anniversary will be a keynote lecture titled “Reporting the Road Ahead: Automotive Journalism as a Catalyst for Nigeria’s Auto Industry Development,” which will examine how media can influence policy and industrial growth.
Top government officials expected at the event include the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Jumoke Oduwole, and the Director General of the National Automotive Design and Development Council, Oluwemimo Joseph Osanipin, alongside state governors, transport commissioners, and members of the diplomatic community.
The event will also feature the unveiling of a special anniversary edition of MotoringWorld magazine, documenting the evolution of Nigeria’s automotive sector.
As stakeholders gather, the anniversary is expected to reinforce the role of media as a catalyst for industrial transformation and sustained growth in Nigeria’s automotive space.
