NAMA MD Launches Football Tourney, Announces Pay Rise

The Managing Director/Chief Executive of the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), Engr. Farouk Umar Ahmed, has declared open the maiden edition of the MD’s Median Football Competition at the Agency’s Corporate Headquarters, Abuja.

Inaugurating the tournament, Engr. Ahmed described the initiative as a historic milestone in NAMA’s history, noting that it is the first sporting event of its kind in the Agency.

He said the competition is designed to foster unity among directorates, promote teamwork, and strengthen the bond between management and staff.

“This competition is not just about football; it is about breaking barriers, promoting teamwork, and creating a platform for greater collaboration across the Agency. It has come to stay and will now be an annual event organized by the Directorate of Public Affairs and Consumer Affairs,” Ahmed said.

He commended the Directorate of Public Affairs and Consumer Affairs for conceptualising and delivering the event, praising its potential to enhance harmony, morale, and staff engagement within the workforce.

In a gesture that further delighted staff, the MD announced a long-awaited salary upgrade for NAMA employees.

He disclosed that the new salary structure, approved by the National Income, Salaries and Wages Commission, would take effect from Friday, 29th August 2025.

The announcement drew loud applause and cheers from the audience.

The Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Affairs, in his remarks, lauded Engr. Ahmed’s leadership and commitment to staff welfare, noting that his presence at the opening underscored his support for both professional and recreational initiatives within the Agency.

The event climaxed with Engr. Ahmed performing the symbolic kickoff, officially opening the football tournament, which is expected to bring excitement, unity, and camaraderie among NAMA’s workforce.
